Brent Burns

Brent Burns is chief executive officer of JM Family Enterprises, Inc., a privately held company with more than $20 billion in revenue and more than 5,000 associates. Rooted in automotive and united in its strong culture and core values, JM Family is in the business of helping other businesses succeed.

As CEO, Burns leads an exceptional team of associates. Under his leadership, JM Family has upheld its purpose-driven and results-oriented legacy, which enables its business partners to succeed and surpass customer expectations. At the same time, he has maintained JM Family’s associate-centric culture and champions innovation to further the company’s reach for the benefit of all stakeholders.

Burns joined JM Family in 2000 and was named president of subsidiary World Omni Financial Corp. (dba Southeast Toyota Finance) in 2001. He became JM Family’s chief financial officer in 2008, where he was instrumental to the company’s successful financial stability during the country’s economic downturn. He became chief operating officer in 2014 and attained the role of president in 2017, becoming president and CEO in 2018. With nearly 20 years of leadership experience in automotive operations and finance prior to JM Family, Burns held several senior level positions at various companies including Alamo Rent-A-Car, Inc., AutoNation Financial Services, Inc., and KPMG Peat Marwick.

In keeping with JM Family’s values, Burns is also dedicated to strengthening the communities where its associates live and work as the company continues to expand its leadership position in auto and beyond. JM Family’s community impact initiatives are focused in three areas – empowering families, promoting education and embracing the environment. Burns also personally supports several local organizations. He served a 5-year appointment to the Florida Atlantic University Board of Trustees from 2017 to 2023. He sits on the board of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County and is a lifetime board member for Kids In Distress. He has also served as co-chair of the Habitat for Humanity of Broward CEO Builds since 2020.

Burns graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He and his wife live in Sea Ranch Lakes, Florida and have two children.
