JM Family Enterprises Inc. and its subsidiaries join the fight against hunger with various giving efforts throughout the region

Established by Feeding America in 2008, Hunger Action Month is an awareness campaign celebrated each September. In honor of its long-term partnership with various Feeding America affiliates across its business locations, JM Family and its subsidiaries hosted various giving efforts to take action against hunger.

“Hunger Action Month is a time when people all over America stand together to fight hunger in our communities. JM Family has always advocated for this important cause, and we are excited to have launched innovative new opportunities for our associates to continue to give and show how much they care,” said Lisa Davis, manager of Corporate Community Impact, JM Family.

Vehicle for Change
When associates make a purchase at one of the company’s three participating dining facilities, they are invited to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar as part of the new Vehicle for Change program. This incremental change is collected and donated to food bank partners in each location: Feeding South Florida, Feeding Northeast Florida in Jacksonville and Banks-Jackson County Food Bank in Commerce, Georgia.

Food Rescue
To reduce waste and fight food insecurity at the same time, the company launched a rescue initiative in collaboration with their dining partner Sodexo to distribute unused food to nonprofits, including Boca Helping Hands in South Florida and Sulzbacher and Five Star Veterans Center in Jacksonville, Florida. Since its start in July, JM Family has rescued enough food to serve approximately 3,000 meals to those who need it most.

#ToyotaFightsHunger
JM Family subsidiary Southeast Toyota Distributors leveraged its relationship with Toyota and various prominent content creators to host the second annual #ToyotaFightsHunger social media campaign.

Five social media personalities were selected to take part in the campaign, each receiving a $1,000 gift card to shop for non-perishable and shelf-stable food items, a check for $1,000 to be presented to the Feeding America chapter, and a week-long Toyota vehicle loan to use to deliver the donations. Campaign participants were encouraged to post about their deliveries on social media, raising awareness about food insecurity and how brands like Toyota are doing their part to help alleviate the burden.

Campaign participants included:

  • Taylor Dante of TaystyTravels in support of Feeding South Florida
  • Ben Hicks in support of Feeding Palm Beach County
  • Chef Ron Hsu of Lazy Betty in support of Atlanta Community Food Bank
  • Claire Dawe in support of Feeding the Gulf Coast
  • Caron Streibich of CaronEats in support of Feeding Northeast Florida

“For nearly 240,000 individuals living in Northeast Florida, hunger is a reality they face year-round. I recently teamed up with [Toyota], [Winn-Dixie] and [Feeding Northeast Florida] to take a stand against hunger. Toyota and Winn-Dixie donated $1,000 each to Feeding Northeast Florida, and Toyota sent me a cool 2021 Venza hybrid to go grocery shopping in,” posted Caron Streibich of CaronEats on Instagram.
