Honorees Take Center Stage at The Parker in Fort Lauderdale for the 2024 Black Achievers Awards

The 2024 Black Achievers Awards took center stage at The Parker in Fort Lauderdale, honoring four extraordinary individuals for their outstanding contributions to the South Florida community in the fields of Arts & Culture, Business & Entrepreneurism, Community Service, and Education. The evening marked the 29th consecutive year that JM Family Enterprises, Southeast Toyota Distributors, and JM Lexus have come together to shine a spotlight on the trailblazers who are paving the way for a brighter future.
More than 500 attendees, including past honorees, local dignitaries, and community leaders, gathered to celebrate the remarkable achievements of this year’s Achievers. Hosted by Calvin Hughes, Emmy Award-winning evening newscaster for WPLG Local 10, the event included an inspiring performance by the Evolutionary Arts Life Academy Musical Theatre students and powerful speeches by each honoree.
The 2024 honorees include:
Arts & Culture: Tanisha Cidel, supporting Evolutionary Arts Life Foundation, Inc.
Business & Entrepreneurism: Ronald E. Frazier, supporting BAC Funding Corporation
Community Service: Brother Lyle Muhammad, supporting Circle of Brotherhood
Education: Dr. Rashondia Gaines, supporting NAAAGS Youth Development Foundation
In addition to honoring the four remarkable trailblazers, the ceremony also celebrated Naftalienne Jerome, the recipient of the prestigious Jerome Edmund Gray Youth Achiever Award. A standout high school senior, Jerome was awarded a scholarship to Florida State University for her exceptional academic achievements and her unwavering commitment to leadership and service within the community.
Each Achiever receives a $15,000 donation to the charity of their choice, continuing the program’s long-standing tradition of giving back to the community. Since its inception in 1992, the Black Achievers Awards has recognized more than 185 individuals and contributed over $750,000 to nonprofit organizations on behalf of its honorees. In addition, more than 40 scholarships have been awarded to deserving students, reinforcing the program’s mission to foster education and empowerment.
