JM Family Enterprises, a privately held company with $18 billion in revenue and more than 5,000 associates, announced leadership changes within two of its subsidiaries, Southeast Toyota Finance and Southeast Toyota Distributors. The announcement was made by both Brent Sergot, president of Southeast Toyota Distributors and executive vice president of JM Family Enterprises, Inc. and Dan Chait, president of JM&A Group and Southeast Toyota Finance and executive vice president of JM Family Enterprises, Inc.
Casey Gunnell Jr., a 25-year veteran associate of Southeast Toyota Distributors, has been named group vice president of Portfolio Management for Southeast Toyota Finance, the captive finance company for 177 Toyota dealers throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Gunnell started his career at Southeast Toyota Distributors in the Customer Loyalty department directly after graduating from the University of Lynchburg. He has since held numerous field and leadership roles, most recently overseeing the company’s three Vehicle Processing Centers located in Jacksonville, Florida, and in Commerce, Georgia, in addition to the Parts Distribution Center, Southeast Transportation Systems, as well as the Technical Training Center, which is one of the largest automotive training and technical support facilities in the nation. In his new role, Gunnell will oversee the Southeast Toyota Finance’s Credit Administration, Credit Risk, Pricing, Analytics and Data Functions.
“We are excited to welcome Casey and his breadth of knowledge and skills to Southeast Toyota Finance,” said Chait. “He has proven himself as a seasoned and strategic leader committed to JM Family’s culture and to growing our business for the future. We wish Casey continued success as he transitions into his new role.”
As a result of this organizational change, Eric Carter will succeed Gunnell, assuming the role of group vice president of Operations for Southeast Toyota Distributors, the world’s largest independent distributor of Toyotas.
With this role change, Carter has returned to Jacksonville, Florida where he originally began his 20-year career with Southeast Toyota Distributors, working in the Technical Operations Center. He has since spent numerous years in the field before joining the leadership team with roles in Strategy, JM Family’s Office of the CEO and most recently as vice president of Marketing. Prior to joining Southeast Toyota Distributors, Carter began his automotive career at a Toyota dealership in Jasper, Alabama.
Continuing her work with Southeast Toyota Distributors, Myra Adams has been promoted to group vice president of Sales Operations. In this role, Adams will oversee the company’s Sales, Fixed Operations and Marketing functions. She will also continue her role of sponsoring the SET People Strategy Committee which is focused on recruiting a diverse mix of talent, providing associates with the correct tools and opportunities for personal and professional development, coordinating succession planning and maintaining a strong culture as the business adopts new technologies.
Adams has been a part of the Southeast Toyota Distributors team for 27 years, joining the Distribution department before transferring to Marketing. She has since held numerous leadership positions within Marketing and Sales, most recently serving as the vice president of Market Representation.
“We are enthusiastic and energized by these shifts in our leadership,” said Sergot. “With this transition, we continue to evolve and discover new opportunities to better help our associates and dealership partners. Eric and Myra have proven themselves strong and dependable leaders, and both are eager to be a part of our continued growth. We also wish Casey the best as he transitions to Southeast Toyota Finance.”
