This total surpassed last year’s campaign donation by more than 30 percent. Local associates also volunteered their time, sorting nearly 63,000 pounds of food, which equals more than 52,000 meals provided to food insecure individuals from throughout South Florida. FSF, a member of the Feeding America network of food banks, annually rescues 46 million pounds of food, serving 706,130 individuals in need of food assistance from Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
According to Feeding America, in the U.S. one in eight people currently struggle with hunger. This epidemic impacts a variety of individuals in communities across the country, however children and seniors may be at greater risk than others.
