JM Family Enterprises Recognized as Exceptional Workplace for Women, Parents and Diversity by Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE

Long considered a coveted workplace for professionals throughout South Florida and beyond, JM Family Enterprises and its strong corporate culture has once again been recognized by Great Place to Work. The Deerfield Beach-based diversified automotive corporation recently received high marks on three lists published by the global people analytics and consulting firm:

Best Workplaces for Women: No. 42
The ranking considered more than 540,000 employee surveys which evaluated more than 50 elements of team members’ experience on the job, including the extent to which employees, particularly women, trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions, and how much camaraderie there is among the team.

Since 2017, total female population at JM Family has grown 1 percent with the number of women in supervisory or above roles increasing 2 percent compared to last year. 

Giving associates an outlet to connect with peers is an important aspect of the corporate culture at JM Family. One of the most popular associate-led Affinity Groups is Women in Leadership, which was formed as a way to develop future female leaders through mentoring, networking and learning opportunities. Women in Leadership has 157 participants and a well-balanced group of other supervisors and managers who assist in coordinating events and activities, such as a toiletry and school supplies drive for Women in Distress, attendance at the national Women in Leadership conference and welcoming guest speakers. 

Best Workplaces for Parents: No. 28
The ranking was determined by comparing parents' and non-parents' responses representing more than 5 million employees on more than 60 survey questions anonymously rating their employers.

Family is in our name, and a natural extension of that means offering the best policies and programs for associates looking to grow their own. JM Family’s Parental Leave Policy gives new parents 12 weeks paid maternity leave and four weeks paid paternity leave. Associates can also take advantage of Adoption Assistance to help defray the cost of adopting children up to age 18, which includes $10,000 per adoption and 12 weeks fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers and four weeks for non-primary caregivers. As an extra special touch, the company sends a welcome note and blanket for each new baby brought into our extended JM Family.

Best Workplaces for Diversity: No. 23
To determine the list, the experiences of women, people of color, LGBTQ people, employees who are Boomers or older, and people who have disabilities were analyzed, comparing their survey results to their colleagues’ at the same organizations. All told, these anonymous survey responses on more than 60 survey questions reflecting day-to-day workplace treatment represented more than 4.4 million employees’ work lives.

JM Family’s approach to diversity is built on the premise of engaging associates, because each person brings diversity of thought, perspective and experience. The company captures associates’ experiences and feedback through surveys, pulses, focus groups, interviews, affinity groups, cultural events, and associate-led councils who oversee special projects that capitalize on opportunities and address challenges within the organization.
