JM Family Enterprises Named No. 2 on the 2018 Best Workplaces in Manufacturing and Production List by Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE
Great Place to Work and FORTUNE have honored JM Family Enterprises as one of the
2018 Best Workplaces in Manufacturing and Production. The ranking considered more than 29,000 associate surveys from companies in the manufacturing and production industry. The Deerfield Beach-based, diversified automotive corporation took the No. 2 spot on the list and was one of only three companies in Florida to be featured.
Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, evaluated more than 50 elements of team members’ experience on the job. These included the extent to which associates trust leaders, the respect with which people are treated, the fairness of workplace decisions and how much camaraderie there is among the team. Rankings are based on associates’ feedback and reward companies that best include all associates, no matter who they are or what they do for the organization.
“We regard each associate as a valued and important member of our family - whether they work at our headquarters in South Florida, at one of our vehicle processing or parts distribution facilities in Jacksonville and Commerce, or at any of our business locations,” said Brent Burns, president and CEO, JM Family. “We want all of our associates to feel valued, appreciated and heard, and knowing this ranking is a direct result of associate feedback makes the recognition even more meaningful.”
The Best Workplaces in Manufacturing and Production stand out for excelling in the industry’s rapidly-changing marketplace. As evidence to that fact, the vehicle processing centers and parts distribution center run by JM Family subsidiary Southeast Toyota Distributors, utilizes a Japanese philosophy called kaizen. Rooted in continuous improvement, kaizen empowers associates to identify inefficiencies in their processes and combine their collective talents to create a catalyst for progress. Kaizen is about organizing events that improve specific areas within the company and also having a culture where associates are actively engaged in suggesting and implementing improvements.
“Manufacturers are changing the way they do business, particularly because of the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence,” said Michael Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “Organizations like JM Family thrive by tapping into their human potential aided by artificial intelligence and machine learning to achieve ‘innovation by all’ as a competitive advantage.”
The Best Workplaces in Manufacturing and Production is one of a
series of rankings by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations. This past summer, for the third year in a row, JM Family ranked No. 49 on the list of the
