JM Family Enterprises Named One of the 2018 Best Workplaces for Millennials by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE

For the third year in a row, Great Place to Work and FORTUNE have named JM Family Enterprises as one of the Best Workplaces for Millennials. The Deerfield Beach-based, diversified automotive corporation was one of three Broward County companies on the 2018 list, coming in at No. 49.

The ranking considered input from more than 434,000 employees from Great Place to Work-Certified™ companies. Great Place to Work, a research and consulting firm, evaluated more than 50 elements of team members’ experience on the job. These included employee pride in the organization’s community impact, belief that their work makes a difference, and feeling their work has special meaning. Rankings are based on employees’ experiences, no matter who they are or what they do for the organization.

The Best Workplaces for Millennials stand out for their unique, innovative cultures, which helps them attract and retain millennial employees.

“Since our inception 50 years ago, we have worked to create unique policies and benefits to promote our associates’ happiness and well being,” said Carmen Johnson, executive vice president of Human Resources and Legal, JM Family. “We always strive to maintain a workplace with cross-generational appeal by fostering company pride, a sense of community, participative leadership and opportunities for development.”

As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance associate satisfaction and engagement, JM Family recently announced a $150 million renovation of its Deerfield Beach headquarters. The campus overhaul, which will consolidate its footprint and create a more collaborative, pedestrian-friendly atmosphere, will include such features as a sports complex with an outdoor amphitheater and green space, a two-story dining hall and state-of-the-art facilities with modernized and eco-conscious design.

Other efforts to create a more inclusive work environment include associate surveys to determine which policies, programs and resources are most appealing, the introduction of an enhanced parental leave policy for new and adoptive parents and the implementation of an associate-run networking group for young professionals, focused on career development and social engagement. Other programs are currently being piloted throughout the organization.
